First graders in Alli Wiggins’ class at Sedalia Elementary recently learned firsthand the science behind plant growth. The students studied plant life cycles and the essential items needed for plants to survive.
Mrs. Wiggins, along with other teachers in the district, taught this concept by allowing students the opportunity to grow their own plants to experience life sprouting from seeds.
“Growing grass allows us to see first hand that a plant starts as a seed,” Wiggins stated. “We planted the seeds in good soil, put them in the window; and, students got to water them everyday. They were able to see their plants successfully grow when given its needs!”
